With a background in men's tailoring, Pierre Cardin became celebrated for his visionary couture creations in the 1960s. Like Dior, he expanded his empire by licensing his name, becoming among other things the first designer to sell clothes in the Soviet Union and the first to decorate his garments with conspicuous logos.
